THE TEAM

Rebecca Satkunam

Hey! My name is Rebecca Satkunam, and like my team members I feel both privileged and excited to be a part of Youth Parliament this year.

I think the appeal of this program is in it’s obvious potential to impact our community. It demonstrates the willingness of youth to be an active part of their future, something that is reflected in the hard work of our Bill. Although I may not know what the future holds for me, I ‘m looking forward to my team and this program helping me to figure it all out.

Maree Skalistis

Hey, my name's Maree Skalistis and I'm one sixth of the Glen Waverley Team participating in Youth Parliament, 2013! What has always inspired me are these concepts of equality and opportunity through education.

In the future, I hope to go on to study Law, and then continue on to teach my passion in order to inspire the youth of tomorrow; but as of right now, I am a part of the youth of today, and I cannot wait to stand up for what this team stands for!

Dinuka Perera

Hi my name is Dinuka Perera and I am one of the members of the Glen Waverley team. I have taken part in Youth Parliament this year because I have always believed that our youth are the future and we need to start making changes now and be heard.

When I am older I would like to study Psychology and do something involved with youth work because I am very passionate about changing the issues concerning mental health within the youth of our society. I think that our team’s Bill will be a useful way to practice the skills I need to pursue this goal in the future, as well as make a positive impact today!

Sariga Sureshkumar

Hey I’m Sariga and I’m currently part of the Glen Waverley team!  Youth parliament enables me to showcase that if I can do this anyone can. I believe everyone “must be the change they wish to see” and everyone must have a say in things that affect them

In time, I hope to pursue a career in diplomacy. Currently I am content being an ‘out there’ ambitious youth, loving dogs cheesecake and long walks on the beach!

Karthik Gopakumar

Hey , my name is Karthik Gopakumar and I'm *ahem* supposed to be the experienced member of the Glen Waverley Youth Parliament team having done the program once already.

As I'm completing my last year in vce this year, I've had to start making some difficult decisions about my future and in doing so, I've started to seriously think about the wider community. I think this program is a brilliant opportunity for youth to get their voices heard and also a reminder of how any person can make a change which is why I have decided to participate again this year.

Durga A.Viswanathan

Hi! my name is Durga A.Viswanathan. The thing that inspired me to take part in Youth Parliament was the fact that this program was all about giving youth the opportunity, to not only voice what they are passionate about, but also to get more involved in their local community.

In the future, I hope to go on to study Law and International Relations and I also want to give more people the same opportunities that I was fortunate enough to receive; to have their voices be heard!

Thank you

for your support!
